Vagus-nerve stimulation paired with sound

How it works

A device (Neurive Co., Korea) that pairs a tone matched to the patient's tinnitus with electrical stimulation of the vagus nerve delivered through the ear, aiming to drive therapeutic plasticity in the auditory system. A clinical trial completed in 2025, with results not yet public. Its vagus-plus-sound paradigm is a cousin of the bimodal auditory-somatosensory approaches but engages a different (vagal, rather than trigeminal/cervical) pathway; no specific mechanism in this knowledge base has been established for it yet.

This describes the treatment concept as reported in the cited research: a scientific mechanism, not a guarantee of clinical availability.
