How it works
Delivers individually calibrated background noise kept below conscious perception through a hearing aid, intended to exploit stochastic resonance, the principle (central to the predictive-coding account under Interacting Brain Networks) that adding a small amount of noise can restore weak or missing signals rather than simply mask them. A completed Phase 2 trial (72 patients, published 2025) found a statistically significant but modest reduction in tinnitus-related distress, with no significant change in perceived loudness.
