What is it?

Excess spontaneous firing of dorsal-cochlear-nucleus fusiform neurons driven by weakened Kv7.2/3 channel activity, appearing specifically in noise-exposed animals that go on to develop tinnitus, and in DCN regions tuned to high frequencies.
